Air Marshal Arshad Malik: Former CEO of PIA

Who is Arshad Malik?

Arshad is a great person and someone brave enough to deal with big hardships. He has served Pakistan Air Force as a 3STAR officer and has served PIA for 3 years which were the golden times of PIA in terms of management.

Life before joining PIA:

Before serving PIA he was the Vice Chief of  Air Staff in PAF, moreover he  flew various trainer and fighter aircraft; and, commanded a fighter squadron, a flying wing, a operational air base and a regional air command.

His Achievements & Problems he faced:

Arshad joined PIA in the year 2019 where he first organized the organization, groomed and orientated himself and the PIA team. Surprisingly that year the airline was back in profit after 10-12 years of hardships.

Before joining PIA there were a several problems PIA had which were controlled by him such as the removal of incompetent people who were being more stronger than the organization, were trying to take control of the organization, secondly removal of people who were not given jobs based on merit and made sure jobs were given on merit bases, furthermore the issue he resolved was that decisions were not taken on commercial bases but instead the airline was also being dictated as the country was since independence.

But after joining PIA the problems he faced were that PIA had never faced in history, firstly the Covid-19 by which the industry was severely effected worldwide but they still faced it, secondly the ban of PIA from Europe and a number of countries due to the fake license scandal which was all caused by the crash of PIA A320 in a residential area in Karachi. This second challenge of being banned was the worst, Arshad is known as a brave man as he knew how to fight with these crises with which he fought with reality, grounded all of his suspected pilots and by the grace of god a majority was fine.

Finally, with the hard work of Arshad and the PIA team they were cleared with their inhouse matters, presented themselves to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and then to the world. By now PIA has started flying back to Europe which was not possible without the struggle of Arshad, PIA team and by the grace of god.

A Sad News:

Nothing to be sad of but for PIA's better future Arshad has just recently in the first quarter of 2022 been retired as a part of his job completing  3years of service.
